Boys Varsity Swimming · Student Profile: Sohnnie Wesemann- Swim

By: Brennan Whiting

I interviewed Sohnnie Wesemann about his experiences with being part of the swim team. I asked him questions about how it has impacted his own life. Also his reasoning for joining the swim team and why he loves swimming.

Is it hard managing school and swimming?

Personally, I do think it’s hard to manage swim and school, specifically it’s harder mentally than it is physically for me.

Do you plan on continuing your sport/activity after high school?

I’m definitely planning on continuing to swim after High School even if it isn’t for a college team.

How has this sport/activity impacted you?

Swimming has been one of the biggest contributors to my success in life, it has given me so many opportunities and skills that have helped me every day.

What influenced you to join this sport?

I started swimming because of my family, many of my relatives were swimmers and I also loved being in the water from a very young age.

Have you learned anything about this sport?

Over my 13 years of swimming, I’ve learned so much. One of the most important things I’ve learned about is perspective; what works for me could be the complete opposite for someone else and I need to respect that.

And if you had a chance to go back and start over again in this sport would you do it again?

If I had the chance to do it all again I 100 percent would! Some of the best moments in life happened because of swimming and to do it again would be absolutely incredible.
